Senior Advisor - Security of Immigration Services
Andrew McCalister is a senior global risk and security executive with more than 20 years of leadership experience designing, governing, and auditing security systems in complex operating environments. He most recently served for a decade as Global Safety and Security Director for the largest USAID implementing partner, overseeing enterprise security operations across more than 100 countries.
Andrew advises executive leadership and boards on crisis management, duty of care, and enterprise security governance. His work spans high-risk conflict environments across Africa, Asia, and the Middle East, as well as corporate headquarters operations in Washington, D.C. He has led evacuations, managed major security incidents, conducted global compliance audits, and built standardized frameworks that enabled measurable accountability across international portfolios. Beyond crisis response, Andrew specializes in organizational design of security functions. He has built and modernized enterprise security programs, implemented quality assurance methodologies, and developed digital tools to strengthen field and headquarters coordination. Under his leadership, a global security management platform was recognized with a CIO 100 Award for innovation in enterprise technology.
Andrew’s consulting priorities focus on:

Earlier in his career, Andrew held senior field leadership roles in Afghanistan, Libya, the Horn of Africa, Vietnam, South Sudan, and Uganda, integrating security strategy with development and stabilization programming in active conflict and post-conflict environments.
He holds a Master’s degree in International Relations with a focus on international security and crime from American University and has completed executive training in AI Applications for Growth at Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. He currently serves as Membership Chair of the ASIS International National Capital Chapter.
Andrew is based in Arlington, Virginia and consults internationally.
